The love was never in question for me, but finding a practical sustainable way to be a family has become an uncertainty. Every day I worry for my son's safety, hope he isn't too homesick and hope he is surrounded by caregivers who can teach him and love him as we would. I'm envisioning the day he'll return home and at the same time not thinking so much about what the future looks like.
It was probably better in the early days that no one told me it would be this hard. 13 years later I'm ready to hear it and finding great comfort from this book. Thank you, Andrew Solomon.
